Course description This course provides description and operation information applicable to line maintenance activities as outlined by the appropriate Operation and Maintenance manual. In addition, significant insight will be provided into engine configuration through teardown and assembly of modules into their subcomponents using references excerpted from the appropriate overhaul manuals. Exposure to relevant inspection techniques, special tooling, engine specific procedures and maintenance publications will be provided in classroom and laboratory environments. Extensive student-instructor interaction is encouraged to develop a level of understanding that will significantly enhance troubleshooting skills. Course material relating to engine design features and method of operation will be presented using the Rolls-Royce computer based training (CBT) system.
Course objectives Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to…
•Perform detailed maintenance and inspection tasks to include module removal and disassembly, inspection, reassembly and preparation for testing.
•Use special tooling and equipment to support engine disassembly and reassembly.
•Recall common repair and component improvement schemes as discussed, however a detailed review of those processes are not included in this course.
Target population Recommended for personnel performing Line Maintenance tasks that also require strong troubleshooting skills.

NOTE: The Honeywell fuel system and GPECS (Chandler Evans) FADEC system are the only fuel systems covered in regularly scheduled classes.
