Course descriptionThis course covers the basics of borescope inspection as it applies to the AE 3007 engine and parts condition terminology, followed by engine preparation for inspection. The student will learn to properly perform a borescope inspection of the compressor, combustion section and turbine modules of the engine. The course also includes special inspection techniques for other locations within the engine that are borescope accessible.
In the laboratory, the student, using the maintenance manual, will access all borescope inspection locations using modern video borescope equipment.
Course objectives Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to…
• Identify borescope port locations, properly remove and install borescope port covers.
• Recall and perform proper borescope procedures for the engine, using approved data, and inspection criteria,
• Determine the serviceability of engine components in the propeller gearbox (if applicable), accessory gearbox, compressor, combustor, and turbine sections of the engine.
